The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) is Australia’s audiovisual archive, telling the national story by collecting, preserving and sharing audiovisual media, the cultural experience platforms of our time. The collection itself dates back to 1935, making it one of the world’s oldest audiovisual collections. It is also one of the country’s most used cultural collections, with around 125 million views of collection content each year.
The Opportunity

We seek an experienced and motivated Curator to join the Content and Interpretation team in the Curatorial and Accessioning section. The Curator will lead, support, and assist with curatorial projects, concepts, and activities, in line with NFSA’s strategic vision, ranging from exhibitions, experiences, and programs that inspire and engage audiences. The position is responsible for supervising a small team who work across all audiovisual collection formats and is responsible for managing creative and collaborative relationships.

Desirable skills include project management skills, excellent communications skills, experience with audiovisual materials in the analogue and digital archiving space, presentation and administrative skills and experience and knowledge of Australia’s audiovisual, arts and culture industries.
