Collections

"By which we mean": ...collection management, access, digitisation, repatriation (including digital), disaster preparedness and recovery.

For museums and galleries:

First Nations:  Centering Indigenous knowledge and how these inform/intersect with collection practices.

National Voice: Demonstrate museum and gallery collections value to the community. Build a compelling case for ongoing, and sustained, support for museum and gallery collections nationally.

Strengthening Capacity: of small to medium organisations through models akin to Collections Victoria or Collections WA, and engaging in national aggregation projects.

Inside AMaGA:

A common feature of all AMaGA member organisations is the work of collection stewardship. AMaGA itself does not hold collections, therefore our role is to advocate for broader awareness of the issues our members face, and highlight the responsibilities they have to source communities and the public with regard to the diverse range of collections they hold. AMaGA will continue to be the sector voice in major national initiatives/programs that seek to enhance the visibility and resourcing of Australia’s distributed collections.
