The WA State Heritage & History Conference was held over 29 – 30 April 2019 at the Westin Hotel in Perth. The 2019 Conference theme was “Handle with Care”, as it is known that places, stories and collections face many threats. The environment, time, misuse, neglect or even misguided good intent can corrode, corrupt or devalue. The conference, however, explored other elements of heritage, history and collections that need to be “handled with care.”
The conference was supported by Principle Sponsors the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and the Heritage Council of Western Australia. The program was developed with the assistance of an industry Advisory Board representing heritage, history, collections, tourism and local government.

With thanks to Lotterywest, the Australian Museums and Galleries Association WA was able to offer bursaries to support attendees, with emphasis on regional and remote applicants. We are pleased to announce that thanks to the financial support, many people working and volunteering in regional Western Australia were able to participate in the conference.
