Australia's largest public museum organisation is seeking a highly organised and passionate Operations professional to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Your experience in the   delivery and  execution of major stakeholder events will be vital in this role . This includes the management of commercial and stakeholder opportunities across all Museums Victoria venues including Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks, Immigration Museum and Royal Exhibition Building.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The position is accountable for optimising event operations delivery and productivity, which delivers exceptional visitor and customer experiences through the use of Museums Victoria venues for consumer, trade and business venue hire. This position oversees the execution of key stakeholder events across all sites.

Working alongside the Museum Space Management team at Melbourne Museum, key duties of this role include: 

1.    Develop and deliver best practice operational and planning systems surrounding event services across all Museums Victoria venues; develop and implement best practice systems to improve workflow and productivity.

2.    Develop and monitor operations budgets, provide high level business analysis, maintain accurate documentation and report financial performance;

3.    Lead the operations team including staff recruitment, supervision and training;

4.    Lead projects and procedural development which contribute to the implementation of the commercial strategy, as it relates to Event Operations; work collaboratively across the department and organisation to contribute to achieving the commercial objectives including to source and oversee event specific related services in line with the event specification and engage external suppliers within project budget.

5.    Identify and evaluate the viability of new commercial business partnership opportunities and assist in the negotiation preferred supplier/supplier rights contracts;

6.    Be a key Museums Victoria contact for clients, caterers, suppliers and stakeholders; enhance customer relationships wherever possible. 

7.    Develop, implement and oversee an Occupational Health & Safety standards framework for Event Operations.

8.    Build and maintain effective working relationships with key Museums Victoria internal stakeholders that help foster a commercial culture; identify and maintain strategic partnerships with industry and external stakeholders;

9.    Establish processes that integrate day-to-day venue hire and supplier services with overall Museums Victoria operations and that positively impact on visitor experiences;

10.  Maintain a high level of market knowledge and expertise regarding venue hire, and catering and supplier contracts;

11.  Take a leadership role in ensuring the work area adheres to environmental principles

12.  Play a contract administrator role for event catering, supplier and stakeholder contracts including; adherence to contract conditions, development of associated procedures, financial terms, and identification of potential cost saving supplier contracts

13.  This position will be required to participate in an on-call roster;

14.  Comply with Museums Victoria's policies and procedures and with relevant legislation and regulations.

 

OTHER INFORMATION

This role is full time on going working 5 days a week and maybe required to outside of normal hours. The salary on offer is $90,067 per annum plus superannuation.
