Surf Coast is home to a thriving arts and creative community with nationally significant museums, boutique galleries, arts hubs and a rapidly growing creative industry.   Reflecting this growth, in 2016 the Surf Coast was identified as a top five creative industry hot spot in regional Australia.

We are searching for a passionate Coordinator to implement the strategic direction of the arts and creative industry on the Surf Coast.  Your ability to connect, see opportunity and drive projects will ensure this vital part of the community and economy continues to grow.

The portfolio includes overseeing the Australian National Surf Museum and the arts development team.


About you
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader to use their passion and extensive experience within the creative industries to coordinate, supervise and manage the delivery of Council’s “Creative Places Strategy” through:

Coordinating the Arts & Creative Economy team, leading the implementation of the ANSM Master Plan and relevant actions of the Economic Development Strategy

Coordinating the delivery of key arts and ANSM events and programs and deepen connection with the arts community.

Identifying new Arts and ANSM opportunities for the Surf Coast that increase the awareness, profile and development of the creative sector.

Overseeing the submission of major arts & culture grant applications


Mandatory Requirements (Skills & Experience)

Museum and/or Arts degree level qualification

Minimum  five  years’ experience working in the arts and museum field with an extensive and nuanced understanding and application of current trends as they relate to the arts and creative sector

Minimum five years’ experience in Museum, cultural or arts sector management, including staff and volunteer management

Knowledge of and experience in developing interpretive displays, public programs and experiences

Well-developed project management skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects at one time
