About the opportunity
The Senior Digital Preservation Specialist supports the creation of policies and an overarching framework for digital preservation at the Library. The role will support the creation, operationalising, and monitoring of digital preservation standard operating procedures. The Specialist will have sound knowledge of contemporary digital preservation practices and apply that knowledge to the creation of a digital preservation framework to ensure robust, scalable, and stable mechanisms are developed to ensure the long-term safekeeping of digital collections.
The Senior Digital Preservation Specialist is accountable for the following measurable outcomes:
· Creating, operationalising, and monitoring the implementation of a digital preservation framework and relevant policies for the Library
· Operationalising and overseeing the use of the FRED forensic data workstation to maximise its benefit
· Supporting the creation of standard operating procedures that incorporate the delivery of innovative solutions to ensure the long-term safekeeping of digital assets.

About you
Essential:
· Understanding of principles of system integration and knowledge of scripting languages (desirable)
· Familiarity with standard file formats used for digital data (e.g. JPG, TIFF, WAV, PDF), the PREMIS framework, the OAIS model, preservation utilities such as JHOVE and DROID, and metadata standards such as XML, MARC, Dublin Core, METS, and EAD
· Relevant tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, e.g. Information Systems, database management. (desirable)
