About the organisation

Established in 2020 by the members of Gorman House Arts Centre Inc., Arts Capital is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and registered charity that inherits a legacy of its predecessor association. Arts Capital builds on the exceptional growth and development of the past decade, with new governance arrangements and a positive agenda to adapt to a changing arts landscape post-COVID 19.

Arts Capital manages two heritage-listed ACT Government arts facilities in Canberra’s inner city - Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres (www.agac.com.au). With more than 40 resident artists and organisations, and 200,000+ visitors a year, the centres play a vital role in the ACT arts sector. Innovative programming, rapid growth in utilisation, and a comprehensive business plan to revitalise the centres culminated in a new governance structure in 2020.

Planning for Centenary Renovations is underway with a commitment from the ACT Government to deliver final sketch plans in 2022 to guide capital works at both centres for their respective centenaries in 2024 and 2027. This work will be a major focus over the next few years as well as the implementation of the organisation’s new 5-year strategic plan.
