About the organisation

Established in 2020 by the members of Gorman House Arts Centre Inc., Arts Capital is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and registered charity that inherits a legacy of its predecessor association. Arts Capital builds on the exceptional growth and development of the past decade, with new governance arrangements and a positive agenda to adapt to a changing arts landscape post-COVID 19.

Arts Capital manages two heritage-listed ACT Government arts facilities in Canberra’s inner city - Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres ( With more than 40 resident artists and organisations, and 200,000+ visitors a year, the centres play a vital role in the ACT arts sector. Innovative programming, rapid growth in utilisation, and a comprehensive business plan to revitalise the centres culminated in a new governance structure in 2020.

Planning for Centenary Renovations is underway with a commitment from the ACT Government to deliver final sketch plans in 2022 to guide capital works at both centres for their respective centenaries in 2024 and 2027.
