The position
This role is part of the Programs and Education teams who are responsible for providing innovative and engaging programs for local, national, and international audiences onsite, off site and online.

The John T Reid Outreach Coordinator has oversight and implements the Gallery’s national outreach program, complementing travelling exhibitions and strategic initiatives that expand the reach and impact of the NGA’s collection and associated programs.  In this role you will develop and deliver programs, work with NGA staff and artists to facilitate their contributions to the outreach program in consultation with venues and communities throughout the country.  You will consolidate existing outreach programs, modify onsite programs for delivery off site and develop new programs specifically for innovative outreach initiatives.

Ensuring Indigenous culture is at the centre of the national cultural agenda is foundational to the Gallery’s Learning Strategy and all roles in Programs and Education are Identified. Applicants should have an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

This position is full-time and is available for a period of up to two years, with the possibility of extension due to operational requirements. Applicants should note that off site and weekend work will be required. For work outside the regular span of hours the position holder will be granted overtime or time-off-in-lieu. It is also expected that the role would travel regularly, requiring being away from home.
