GLAM Happy Hour: Bushfire Recovery
Welcome to GLAM Happy Hour!
AMaGA ACT Branch introduces our new GLAM Happy Hour! Join us for a drink and a chat about a range of topics related to galleries, libraries, archives and museums.
This social gathering is based on previous Article Club sessions, but the format will change throughout the year to offer members a diverse range of social and professional development experiences.
Are you passionate about a particular topic that you’d like to share with fellow GLAM colleagues? Send us an email at ACTBranch@amaga.org.au with your suggestion and we’ll consider it for future GLAM Happy Hour discussions.
February 2020 – GLAM Happy Hour Topic
In light of the tumultuous start to 2020, there is an opportunity to reflect on the role GLAM institutions can play in the bushfire recovery. What actions should cultural institutions take to help their surrounding communities?
There is much to consider and discuss. Let’s start with The Australian, “Museums urge more action on climate change” (4 February 2020). Do you think a portion of the $2bn bushfire recovery funds should be distributed to museums? Are natural history museums best placed to participate in this recovery? How could other cultural institutions contribute to the recovery effort?
We look forward to chatting with you at ANU Fellows Bar over pub snacks (provided by AMaGA ACT) and drinks (you buy your own drink).
